About This Offer
Ho Hum was written in 1961 and recorded on one of Bob’s favorite
albums to date, Gloomy Sunday and Other Bright Moments. Half the
record were pieces by other great arrangers – Al Cohn, Ralph Burns, Gary
McFarland and Eddie Sauter – and the other half was all Bob’s – two
arrangements and two originals, Ho Hum being one of them. The band
on the album was made up of some of the greatest musicians of the time:
Reeds: Phil Woods, Eddie Caine, Phil Bodner, Al Cohn, Gene Allen
Trumpets: Bernie Glow, Doc Severinsen, Nick Travis, Clark Terry
Trombones: Wayne Andre, Bill Elton, Alan Raph, Bob Brookmeyer
Rhythm: Hank Jones (p), George Duvivier (b), Mel Lewis (d), Eddie Costa
(perc)
This is the first time since that recording session on November 8, 1961 that
this music has been seen not to mention performed, and we are really excited
to be able to offer this music to you. This is historical music and we are
happy to have it being studied and performed again.
