About this project

Music has the power to uplift us, to speak to us as pure, vibrant emotion.  Music can embolden us and carry forth a spiritual meaning that resonates beyond mere words.

Music helps to define who we are, and who we hope to be; and then — as nothing else can — helps to bond us together as one united community. My name is Nolan Gasser, and I have dedicated my life to facilitating these types of musical interactions.

Welcome to the Border Crossing project.  I am honored to share with you the creation of this new music performed and recorded by an all-star ensemble which we call The Mighty Mighty.

Through ArtistShare® you are invited to join us and see how every performer on this album brings his or her own unique superpower — as together we joyfully pursue an innovative approach to musical collage: opening vistas, breaking down barriers, crossing borders.

The ensemble consists of Nolan Gasser (piano, composer), Tim Ries (reeds), Matt Szemela (violin), Dimitris Mahlis (oud, guitars), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Carlitos del Puerto (bass), and Gary Novak (drums). We also collaborate frequently with an array of "mighty" guest artists, including Eva Scow (mandolin) and vocalists Malika Tirolien and Orlagh Fallon.

As we take this artistic journey together, I will be sharing my creative process with you through an exclusive episodic video series titled "The Alchemist Files", included in every offer, where I break down each composition and dive deep into the origins and inspirations which brought it to fruition.
